Christmas Beauty: Body and Mind Pampering

Christmas is coming and you are so ready for this holiday festive. Don’t forget to pamper your body and mind and to welcome this coming New Year!

Pampering Your Body

Take a good bath

Take your candles out from the cupboard, grab the bath salts you’ve been keeping for ‘that special moment’, and few drops of essential oils to add to your bath tub.

Take a quick warm shower with gentle cleanser to clean your skin and get your body ready to enter the hot bath. It is recommended to take a quick warm shower before a hot bath to let the blood vessels expand slowly and lighten the burden to the body.

Keep a small wash cloth soaked with cold water ready to put on your forehead to cool you down if you feel overheated. Bring a bottle of cool mineral water to keep you hydrated.

Light up some candles and fill your tub with warm water, around 35-37 degrees Celcius. Add some essential oils or sprinkle some bath salts into the bath. Make sure the water temperature is not too hot or too cold. Test the water first before plunging into the tub.

Get into the water slowly as your body get used to the water pressure and temperature. Soak in for 15 to 20 minutes, no more than 30 minutes as soaking too long in hot water will cause your skin to dry out. Do a bit of massage on the central arch of each foot and the middle area of the palm of each hand. This will help your body to relax and maintain a balance secretion of hormones. You can also put on your luxury facial mask or hair treatment during this time.

Once done, rise from the tub slowly. Rinse off your hair and body in the shower and then wrap yourself in a fluffy bath robe. After bath, drink lots of water to replace the fluid that comes out as sweat during the hot bath.

Treat your skin and hair

The hot bath would open up your pores, so this is a good time to apply your treatment products or serum. Apply moisturising lotion to keep your skin soft and supple. Massage the lotion into the skin. Wear loose clothing to let your skin to breathe.

Use your favourite facial treatment such as facial ampoules. A good way to apply watery products is to put it on your clean palms, then pat it gently to your face. Hold your palms against your face for a few second to let the warmth of your palm helps open up the pores for the products to penetrate into your skin. Don’t forget to apply it down to the neck area where the skin tends to show your real age.

Put some leave in treatment on your hair. Give a gentle massage to let the products penetrate deeper. Skip the hair dryer and let your hair dry naturally. Use a comb with sparse teeth to comb your hair.

Manicure and pedicure

Nails are small, but good and healthy nails represent your overall beauty as you care for the little things, that means you put attention to the bigger parts. Take a trip to your favourite manicure and pedicure salon. Let the professional give you the pampering your hands and feet need. A paraffin treatment is also highly recommended for soft and supple hands and feet.

For a DIY manicure and pedicure, you can get some nail treatment products and tools yourself. Unless you really know what you are doing, we recommend that you see a professional to avoid getting the unwanted side effects from doing it the wrong way.

Pampering Your Mind

Now that your body is pampered, you need a healthy and relaxed mind to go with it. Forget about the stress at work, or the chores at home. Give yourself a ‘me time’.

Give yourself a treat

A little sweet won’t hurt. Go to your favourite sweet shop, and buy yourself a couple of sweet treats. As long as you don’t go overboard, you should be fine. Just keep in mind that you need a little treat, not a huge meal out of desperation.

If you are not a sweet tooth, you might want to just grab a good cup of coffee at a fancy café. Bring some good books to read but leave your electronic screens at home. Skip the news or status updates as many of them will make you feel far from good.

Who doesn’t love shopping? Well, maybe your wallet doesn’t but who cares? It’s about you yourself today. As long as you control yourself and not running wild grabbing everything your arms and legs can. You’ll probably be okay. Probably. A good tip: set your limit.

Go to a department store or go to a shopping complex. Satisfy your desire to try on those unaffordable pieces, and buy the ones that is within your budget.

Go to the park

A short walk to the park will help you forget about the chores at home or the work that you brought home. Meet new people, or watch cute children playing around at the park. If you have a pet, this is a good time to make yourself and your pet feel good. Walk around the neighbourhood, you will surprise yourself that you could find interesting things around your home.

Stay at home

Don’t feel like going out? You can put on your best pajamas and read a good book while sipping on a cup of homemade chai latte. You can also rent good movies, preferably with happy ending or inspiring story lines, and do a movie marathon.

Call your besties to have some sleepovers. Talk your heart out or play those board games or simply have fun at home. Spending time with your loved ones would surely bring positive energy that boosts your mood.

Plan for a vacation

Check for a steal. Go by yourself or with your significant other. The change of scenery will clear up your clouded mind. The excitement when planning the trip will keep you busy in a positive way. Explore and get to know new people.

The most important thing to remember this coming holiday is to just relax, and enjoy every moment of freedom. You know you deserve it. Merry Christmas 2016 and Happy New Year 2017 everyone!
